Fueling Champions in Sabie.

Champions Uncovered is proud to be associated with the MTN National MTB Series driven by Nissan.  The series has been exciting so far having been at both the Dullstroom and Sabie races.

Conditions have been muddy on both occasions due to rainfall which brought out the Champion in the riders, who never gave up and defied the tough conditions!

The Swiss riders, came out tops inboth the men’s and women’s categories of the MTN National MTB Series driven by Nissan inSabie, a small town located in Mpumalanga, South Africa.Having had days of prolonged rain the week of the race, it is said the MTN MTB Sabie race was tougher than theMTBDullstroom race that took place 2 weeks ago.

At the Champions Uncovered waterpoint, the riders were unrecognizable being covered in mud from head to toe. Many entrants for the Ultra Marathon opted to take part in the 45km race the following day; a wise choice considering the number of mechanical failures as a result of the mud!

Urs Huber (Team Bulls) winning the 113km MTN Ultra Marathon in a time of 5h28m57s. A Champ! Huber was followed by his German teammate, Karl Platt (Team Bulls) who was not too far behind the leader finishing in a time of 5h31m07s. In third place was South African rider, Kevin Evans (FedgroupItec) in a time of 5h43m33s

In the women’s category, ArianeKleinhans (Team RE:CM) from Switzerland took the podium having crossed the line in a time of 4h22m22s. The remaining podium positions we taken by South Africans; Robyn de Groot (Biogen Toyota) took second place in 4h31m00s and Amy McDougall (Valencia Cycling) took third place a little over 3minutes later in a time of 4h34m19s

It’s been an exciting series so far at both the races, it’s been great creating a formula one type pit-stop for all the riders! Service & speed with a smile is what you can expect. Hope to see you at the Champions Uncovered waterpoint or at the finish line, come pop in and say hello at our stand!
