Live in freedom by expanding your potential.

“Be the best version of you” – everyone talks about this potential in you but what is potential?

Cambridge dictionary describes potential as “someone’s ability to develop achieve or succeed”. This tells us that potential is unlimited possibilities. Unlimited possibilities to expand and explore what can be.

If we think of ability, it is about the capacity to do something, that means that each one of us has the potential because inside of us exists a vast amount of capacity for growth.

You know that you have so much more to give and a yearning to grow. This is seen in your energy when you have a sparkle in your eyes, when you hear about a topic and it catches your interest, when you see someone doing something and your heart is racing maybe out of jealously or fear that you are not living to the full expression of who you are and who you want to be.

How do we begin unlocking potential?

You have two choices – either you can stay in the same place you find yourself in and suppress that voice of expression and push it deeper down inside of you and keep yourself busy with everyday life or you can begin to unlock it and start to move in the direction of unlimited possibilities.

Remember that you have the power of choice and the freedom to choose your day and your way.

You choose the life you are living, through your beliefs and thoughts that shape your actions.

If you are willing to be courageous and take one step to expand this unlimited supply of potential, some call it “faith” then here are the 9 Ways to get started:

  1. Honesty and forgiveness: Begin with recognising where you are currently. Be  honest about your situation and most of all forgiving yourself for what you have not done. Accept where you are at and don’t look back, look forward toward your vision and goal of where you want to be.
  2. Imagination activation – dream again: Write a list of everything you ever wanted to do, be or see and ask yourself, “if anything was possible what would my life look like?” The brain doesn’t know the difference between reality and perceived reality, the world is yours to imagine freely.
  3. Lock that picture in and start with one idea: Write it over and over (repetition) and create a goal from that one idea. Use the SMARTER methodology.
  4. Create a plan: Once that picture is locked-in write the massive goal into small bite sized actions.
  5. Get connected: Reach out to a friend, coach, mentor to keep you accountable for that goal,  that is your dream unlocked. Mention it to others who inspire you, for social accountability to someone you trust and who will push you in the direction of your goal. Sometimes the best people are not always the ones closest to you (they see you as you are not who you want to be).
  6. Visibility: Create a vision board or a mental image and put it up in front of you to see it every day.
  7. Take action: Every single day and track your goal, use a notebook to comment exactly what you did each day until your goal deadline is met.
  8. Set yourself up:  begin with mini steps, starting for 2 minutes instead of 20 minutes.
  9. Reflect: When you look back the progress will motivate you and give you confidence that anything is possible.

“Do something today that your future self will thank you for” is one of the best quotes to keep in mind to keep moving to unlock your potential.

I heard Bob Proctor say this “You are God’s highest form of creation” and to live in the full expression of who you are is why you are here – it creates purpose and a meaningful life.
