Champions Uncovered is proud to be associated with the MTN National MTB Series driven by NISSAN. The 4th Leg of the series took place on the weekend, this time in a quaint town calledClarens, located between the Maluti Mountains in the Free State, South Africa.
Conditions were great with no rainfall, compared to the Dullstroom and Sabie stages, which made it tough racing through the mud , however, the course took the riders up rocky terrain as high up as 2030m above sea level. The start of event morning was at a fresh 2’C and warmed up quickly to a warm 24’C autumn day.
Champions Uncovered were at water point number 2 for the Ultra Marathon (120km) and Marathon (75km) riders. The first platoon flew past us at the 38km mark – so fast that when you blinked you missed them, making the course look like a piece of cake. Fortunately, there were about 700 or so other MTB participants who made a stop to fill-up their water bottles and of course some potatoes.
